Antrax IT was founded towards the end of the 1990s to produce towel warmers and décor radiators. The immediate objective was to generate warmth in the home in a new way, enhancing efficiency with aesthetic impact. The company’s research led to collaboration with world-famous designers, while also leading to new solutions for the world of radiators, in line with evolving tastes and lifestyles.
The first collaborations between Antrax IT and architects included projects by Dante Benini (Teso), Francesco Lucchese (Zero-Otto) and Massimo Iosa Ghini (Scudi, Vu). Then, about ten years ago, came the encounter with Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez, creators of the extremely successful Serie T. An object with a minimal look, inspired by the classic ‘T-beams’ used in construction, offering freedom of composition and versatility: the modules can also function as shelving.

This was a revolution that transformed the radiator from a technical element to a compositional detail of great personality, capable of decorating spaces. Just consider the Android décor radiator designed by Daniel Libeskind, a vertical micro-architecture made of inclined planes that intersect to generate visual rhythm. A project that combines aesthetic research with high thermal efficiency, translating into energy savings thanks to the units ability to reach full operation in a very short time span.

Other signature creations by Antrax IT include Flaps (Victor Vasilev), a monolithic rectangle slightly shifted by angled segments with respect to the plane; Loft (Andrea Crosetta), whose undulated surface suggests the archetype of the classic radiator; and the Tubone radiator (Andrea Crosetta), an ironic, almost playful piece, where the proportions become the characteristic feature.
The latest projects presented on the market are the Byobu (Marc Sadler) and Waffle (Piero Lissoni) radiators. The former takes its cue from Japanese decorative screens, reinterpreted through a heated body with one or two panels, moving around a pivot and concealing the bathrobe or towels positioned on a hook. The latter, on the other hand, has two precise aesthetic references: kinetic art, for the geometric texture of the surface, and the classic cast-iron radiator, revised in terms of forms and materials.

The latest collaboration of Antrax IT will make its debut during Milano Design Week: Ghisa by Rodolfo Dordoni, which reconstructs the image of classic cast-iron radiators while reformulating their proportions and details, the relationship between full and empty zones, the joints between the elements, thicknesses and depths. The latest entry in a unique collection, where technical research goes hand in hand with a focus on elegant form.
