Carl Hansen & Søn | Petal Lamp

Organic design for the Petal Lamp, a sculptural piece created by the Danish designer Rikke Frost for Carl Hansen & Søn

“The base of the Petal Lamp has the form of a tree trunk, while two elegant reflectors in metal act as the foliage, spreading delicate, diffused light.” This is the description provided by Rikke Frost for the lamp created in collaboration with Carl Hansen & Søn. The design has focused on the contrast between the different materials in an interesting way: wood with visible grain for the base of the lamp, achieving a warm, natural effect, is matched with the coolness of the metal used for the reflectors. The upward lighting spreads in the opposite direction, reflecting the circular form of the shades to create a warm atmosphere. The base of the Petal Lamp and the reflectors can be assembled in nine different combinations, personalizing the lamp to adapt to any given space.
