Fritz Hansen reissues the Egg table, a masterpiece by Arne Jacobsen

Fritz Hansen celebrates its 150th anniversary by reinterpreting the Egg table, a symbol of a Nordic aesthetic that aims to improve our everyday world, in a limited edition 70 years after the item was first designed

Beauty, of course, but never as an end in itself. A simultaneous passion for rigor and joy that has always guided Fritz Hansen in the production of furnishings that have become milestones of design history. Such as the Egg table, a masterpiece by Arne Jacobsen from 1952, now reinterpreted in a modern way for the 150th anniversary of the Danish company.

The firm’s design thinking remains firmly connected to concepts of quality and care in manufacture, in the conviction that objects should improve and facilitate everyday life. In perfect tune with Jacobsen, who countered the precision and minimalism of his works of architecture in the 1950s with the organic curves of his furniture, offering multiple possibilities of insertion in spaces.

Originally made in teak and rosewood, the Egg™ is now offered – in total respect for its past – with a top in FSC certified wood with a walnut finish, set on legs in shiny chrome-plated steel. The oval form prevents rigid frontal seating arrangements, creating a fluid, homogeneous convivial setting.
