Wall&decò: a collection in three movements

Three inspirations for the new Contemporary Wallpaper 2022 collection. With a presentation that is literally full of magic. Also to explore online

Ludovica+Roberto Palomba, Federico Peri, Studiopepe, Le Dictateur, Draga & Aurel, Antonio Marras, CTRLZAK, Debonademeo – and the list could be continued. These are the creative studios that have worked on the new Contemporary Wallpaper 2022 collection of Wall&decò under the guidance of Christian Benini, founder and creative director of the company.

72 new designs grouped in three moodboards. In Deep Nature, ancestral or more rarified, stylized nature creates spaces for peaceful balance; Red Heart is a tribute to a color, the strongest hue of the whole spectrum, perhaps, full of personality and magnetism; and Heritage, a bridge between past and present, a layering of signs and meanings to convey a thousand stories, giving a deeper significance to our time.

To introduce these offerings a catalogue has been created, to browse through like an art book. In the meantime, the company has also put together an unusual, surprising video presentation, Cartacadabra, with the brilliant magician Lorenzo Para, alias Fiollo, as the protagonists.

At the start of the show, Benini – who willingly acted as a volunteer for certain experiments – explains his idea. “What is the power of magic? It is the power of amazement, of generating awe and wonder. In the viewer, magic creates a sort of reaction to beauty, to the unexpected. Which is just what we try to do with our collections, the result of an ongoing creative path of research, always seeking new aesthetic codes. (…) And then, we should not forget that magic is lightness, a way to make people smile. So we hope this narrative will first of all be evocative, but also light and witty.”

The new collection is also on view inside WeMU, the Wall&decò Experience Museum. A display experience formulated using the tools of virtual reality, where each pattern is combined with its own audio contributions: a pathway of storytelling where the designers themselves explain their creations.
