The dynamic personality of Mamba

RODA presents Mamba, the new collection of padded sofas designed by Rodolfo Dordoni. The original styling and a varied range of pieces nurture compositional versatility. For total durable outdoor comfort

Gardens and terraces bear witness to sweeping evolution in outdoor spaces, seen as natural extensions of the private environment. And nature, as a result, is no longer seen only in terms of escapism, but also as an integral part of everyday life, incorporating functional aspects in tune with new kinds of behavior, new actions and lifestyles. The indoor-outdoor boundary – and the threshold as its marker – are transformed to create fluid continuity, orienting the design and furnishing of spaces.

Relying on a forceful identity and sensitive to all the provisions that make outdoor spaces welcoming and elegant, on a par with the living room, RODA (re)turns to the expertise of Rodolfo Dordoni to experiment with new, more dynamic and informal approaches to comfort. The Mamba collection of modular upholstered sofas has been conceived – the designer explains – as “the opposite of what I am accustomed to doing. Unlike me, it is disorderly, irregular, relaxed. It is the perfect sofa for those who enjoy really informal outdoor living.”

An original project that embodies Italian manufacturing excellence and constant research on materials and technologies, to offer durable comfort in the open air, breaking up the schemes of a designer famous for his sober styling to come to terms with an image of vivid personality: multiple forms, with sinuous, elegant profiles, as welcoming as a warm, nonchalant embrace.

Mamba, a versatile, variegated collection

The collection is composed of six elements: two pentagonal, two linear and two back modules. All the sides of the bases can host the smaller back which also acts as an armrest, while the larger back is assigned to just one side of the pentagon.

Ready for free groupings, the Mamba modules can generate classic compositions or unusual, original lengths, emphasized by the irregular forms and surprising color combinations. The backs open outward, lightly, going beyond the perpendicular arrangement with the seats and attached with a precise system of brackets. The overall covers are removable and available in all the fabric options offered by RODA. The structure made with aluminium slats, simultaneously agile and sturdy, rests on cylindrical feet in the Smoke color, for understated visibility.
