Sober and eccentric, balanced and engaging. Everything and its opposite, in a Milanese home with a unique personality, for two entrepreneurs who have assigned the complete interior design to Dainelli Studio. The needs of the couple and their children have been interpreted by the architects with great ability, gauging aristocratic, almost Haussmannian details and extremely contemporary features. A harmonious ambivalence that permeates all 250 square meters on the ground floor of a building from the 1980s on Via Tamburini, divided into a spacious entrance, landings and corridors with large wall cabinets, a big living area connected to the dining room, four bedrooms and a quiet garden covering 600 square meters.
Peacefully elegant custom furnishings coexist with design icons, family heirlooms and the self-produced Faces series by Dainelli Studio (sculptures in marble, ceramics and paintings). As well as large expanses of paneling, mirrors, Versailles oak flooring, and the resin floor of the kitchen, tropical wallpapers, architectural lighting. At the entrance one immediately encounters pieces created by the designers: the boiserie bookcase, the cabinet in black stained ash wood, the brass partition separating the space from the living area.
These features are joined by a black leather chair by Vitra and two custom lamps, with an incorporated brass body and Dedar Tiger Mountain fabric, a jacquard velvet inspired by Tibet. In the living room the protagonist is a Flexform fabric sofa, combined with the Capitol chairs by Cassina – in black stained ash wood and moss green aniline leather – and completed by modern vintage end tables and Flos lamps. The passage between living and dining areas is marked by steps with elegant brass details, leading to a large custom table with a base in black stained ash wood and a top in White Beauty marble, accompanied by chairs, a bar cabinet and a lamp in metal and glass, all by Gallotti&Radice.
The classic-contemporary dualism continues in the bedrooms, with bedside units in gunmetal finish and Georgette marble, and a bed with a matelassé headboard, both by Conte, in dialogue with the custom cabinet in black stained ash wood, a console by Gallotti&Radice and wallpaper by Taplab.
The Poliform kitchen and the Boffi bathroom with iconic furnishings by Kartell and Vitra embody philosophy that is clearly more contemporary. The garden, a true oasis of calm in the city center, is furnished with outdoor items by Kettal, next to a dining table by Cattelan Italia.
