Double anniversary for Armani Hotels & Resorts

The concept of minimalist opulence applied by Giorgio Armani to interior design seems to be standing up to the test of time. Ten years, to be exact, celebrated in 2021

In 2010-2011, Giorgio Armani and Armani/Casa went through a moment of culmination, first with the opening of Armani Hotel Dubai (27 April 2010) and then with the Armani Hotel Milano (11 November 2011), two concepts of interior design and luxury hospitality created by Armani Hotels & Resorts and implemented almost in parallel thanks to collaboration between Giorgio Armani S.p.A. and Emaar Properties PJSC.
While the former overlooks Downtown Dubai, occupying the levels between the 8th and 39th floors of the legendary Burj Khalifa, the latter is in the heart of the city, in a restored rationalist building at Via Manzoni 31, built in 1937 with design by Enrico A. Griffini.

These two works of architecture, both innovative and elegant in their respective eras, have been the starting point, the stimulating context for an interior design project of large size but honed down to the smallest details by Giorgio Armani, who in both cases has set out to grant the concept of comfort and welcome an image of functional, contemporary Made in Italy, with a focus on custom creations and an exemplary approach that has been quite ahead of its time.

In Dubai, as in Milan, the rooms and suites, the amenities, the many bars and restaurants, the various signature retail outlets and all types of spaces for guests speak an elegant, simple and sophisticated language, that of the outstanding couturier and designer, featuring clean, rationalist lines, an essential, warm, glossy range of colors, custom furnishings, fabrics and fine natural materials.

The important double anniversary is being celebrated almost simultaneously in the two cities. In Dubai, on 8 November, with a dinner prepared by the chefs Francesco Mascheroni, Armani Hotel Milano, and Giovanni Papi of Armani/Restaurant in Dubai, and in Milan from 11 November to 21 December, where guests can sample the most outstanding dishes offered on the menu since 2011.

In coordination with the opening of Expo Dubai 2020, on 26 October a special one-night-only event has been organized: a fashion show of the Giorgio Armani men’s and women’s string-summer collection for 2022 and of a selection of haute couture looks by Giorgio Armani Privé, from the Shine collection for fall-winter 2021/22, was followed by a live performance by Chris Martin of Coldplay.

“The Expo has always represented a moment of impetus for human invention: I saw this firsthand in Milan, with the opening of Armani/Silos. Now I’m in Dubai: another Expo, but with the chance for me to celebrate ten years of existence of my hotels, with a special one-night event. I am happy and proud to be here today: the Middle East is the cradle of a new conception of luxury, synonymous with continuing evolution and experimentation, capable of drawing on the roots and the magic of a remarkable, profound culture, to give rise to new creative energy,” Giorgio Armani remarked.
