Gruppo Marzotto acquires Prosetex

An operation that widens the group’s horizons in the furnishing sector

Marzotto Group expands the range of its acquisitions. The latest, Prosetex, is an Italian company founded in 1964 and based in Bulciago (LC), specialized in the production of jacquard velvets, jacquard and dobby weaves in a complete cycle.
Prosetex thus becomes part of Marzotto Lab, the company of Marzotto Group operating in the world of natural fibers, bringing experience and expertise in the field of furnishing fabrics, a sector the group now intends to reinforce.

At present, production for the world of furniture accounts for over half the sales of Marzotto Lab, through the brands Redaelli, Lanerossi and Linificio & Canapificio Nazionale. The company expects to complete the year in progress with sales in the furniture sector alone of € 57 million, representing growth of 40%, partially sustained by the entry of Prosetex, expanding the production line to velvet and jacquard fabrics, and bringing Marzotto Lab closer to Brianza, the geographical area known for its many prestigious manufacturers of furnishings Made in Italy.

“With the acquisition of Prosetex we have decided to make an important leap of quality in our corporate strategy, with specific investments in this sector – says Davide Favrin, CEO of Marzotto Group. – To approach different markets means assigning structures and resources in a well-focused, direct way: this is what we are doing, with determination and passion. Our force lies in the ability to manage a guaranteed supply chain starting with the raw materials, while developing a range of product offerings capable of responding to the needs of various décor areas: from the makers of editions to the producers of furniture, all the way to contract applications.”

The operation – finalized on Monday 11 October with the signing of the notarized purchase contract – was completed in the presence of the CEO of Marzotto Lab, Luca Vignaga. It is the natural outcome of a path that began at the start of the year, when Prosetex was forced to file for bankruptcy. In February, Marzotto Group rented the branch of the company, permitting continuing operations in the plant at Bulciago.

The debut of this new partnership has actually already taken place on a less formal level, during the Supersalone, with the presentation of the new “Touch” collection of furnishing fabrics which includes jacquard velvets, and velvets bonded with jacquard waves in cotton, wool, linen and other fibers.
