Giorgetti presents GM

The Meda-based company introduces a new print and digital editorial format, a cultural space, a contemporary platform, a place of interchange, relation and resonance

The lights go on in Mantua: moving around the small capital that appeals to the world, exploring architecture and pastries with Stefano Baia Curioni, Cino Zucchi and Guia Soncini. The first issue of GM, a new editorial format, in print or digital versions, presented during Milano Design Week by Giorgetti.

A cultural space, a platform to monitor the contemporary, a place of interchange, relation and resonance, where the letters of GM are the initials of Giorgetti Group and Magazine, a medium of observation and investigation of the society, people, projects, objects, stories painted, thought, constructed or simply imagined.

“GM,” says Cristiana Colli, editor of the publication coordinated by Francesca Molteni (Muse Factory of Projects), “is born with white, that of the façade at Via Manzoni 20 in Meda, that of the paper that welcomes the image, writings and projects, the milky white of the screen, the ether gate, access to striated, mutable devices. It is born by the care that converts the original resource into projects, icons, objects of belonging; and it is born as a gift that regenerates itself with the authorial gaze, the instrument of a singular form of collecting.”

A selective antenna, an attentive platform, a place of exchange, relation and resonance, as the editor continues: “A hub of visions and intuitions, drawn, narrated, analyzed; a lab of different experiments and accommodations; a dynamic storehouse of archives and taxonomies that connect experiences, energies, geographies.”

A new editorial format that completes a wide-ranging cultural project made of programs to develop the value of the historical archives and reissues, events, publications, such as the monograph on the Giorgetti Exhibitions (Matite, Posate, Segnalibro) edited by Marco FerreriLe Macchine Volanti of Corradino D’Ascanio edited by Massimo Scolari, the publication and traveling exhibition Object to Project in 2018, for the 120th anniversary of the brand.

“Recent events have given us the opportunity to think, and to shape our activity along unexpected paths,” says Giovanni del Vecchio, CEO of Gruppo Giorgetti. “Without distorting or altering our nature as it has developed over 123 years of objects and projects, we feel the need to evolve our sensibilities and our approach to sustainability, getting beyond the usual formal and functional paradigms”.

“To design and publish a magazine, in print and digital format, for different cultures and climes, is part of a wider vision of our mission that requires passion, but also the weaving of dialogues of research and innovation, looking inside our walls with the eyes of others, and especially looking beyond, to be in line with the present and ready to intercept the future. GM is to read and to collect. It is also a gift to our community; each issue is a special project, an authorial initiative for our community”.
