Global wildlife populations have declined 68% since 1970, more than half the CO2 emissions in human history have happened since 1990.
Starting from the reflection on the environmental crisis, Design China Beijing returns from 24th to 27th September 2021 with the theme “Nature, Nurture and Sustainable Beauty”, which will be expressed through sustainable design materials and industrial research. A four-day event as part of the Beijing International Design Week, set across 12,000 square metres of the massive National Agricultural Exhibition Centre, with over 100 designers including China’s established and emerging talents and international brands.
“In the 4th edition of Design China Beijing, we would like to go beyond original designs and industrial research, and to deepen our understanding of ‘sustainability’ through designs from our exciting exhibitors and features”, says Zhuo Tan, Design China Beijing’s Show Director.

A highlight not to be missed is the world-renowned talks programme with influential speakers including Amanda Levete, Morag Myerscough, Teresa van Dongen, Satyendra Pakhalé, Dayong Sun, Shanshan Qi, Xuan Chen, Di Zhang, to name a few, that will be talking about regenerative design as a response to social and environmental needs in China and beyond.

Design China Beijing has always attracted design brands from around the world including this year’s exhibitors as Abet Laminati, Bticino, Tarkett, Anglepoise, Downland, Mylands, Aquafil, Sunbrella, Interstuhl. Among Chinese brands: Thrudesign, Baluxne, XUE with Chen Min, Burgeree, SEEDDESIGN.
Yi Design x The Regeneration Tree by Aldo Cibic
China’s leading art and design school, Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) will present a showcase of up-and-coming design talent and Yi Design will introduce their new material made from ceramic waste (there are 18 Million tons of ceramic waste produced annually in China) with The Regeneration Tree, a sculpture by Aldo Cibic.

And also: Green Connections curated by Jae Li, a cross-disciplinary platform to search and show the best sustainable practices in future design, and at the entrance of the show, the Unfinished Garden, designed by Yuchen Guo, a social area with recycled materials (ceramic waste), followed by the Sustainable Hutong, designed by Yuchen Guo, that reinterprets in a sustainable way the hutong, a traditional residential courtyards typical of old Beijing.
