A door can darken a space or bring it light, depending on the material of its surface and the way it is designed. Doors, dividers and bookcases define spaces, bordering them, but they also perform new functions, interacting with light and creating atmosphere in living spaces. All this is possible thanks to the physical-chemical properties of the glass utilized, or the particular geometric shaping of the components selected during the design phase.
Levante by ADL, Design Massimo Luca
Levante, designed by Massimo Luca for ADL, a brand specialized in interior doors and partitions of the Boffi|DePadova group, cannot be seen as a mere door, because it transforms into a filter capable of regulating light from the outside or the inside of residential spaces. The reflecting surface is not composed of a normal pane of glass, but has angled parts with a triangular cross-section designed to allow sunlight to pass through, while at the same time limiting visibility. It is possible to choose from two aesthetic compositions: Minimal with the main surface in slender blades, and Plus with the main surface in thicker blades.

Also in the case of the Libreria 30mm Weightless bookcase by Lago, designed by Daniele Lago, light passes freely through the open solution, and the way the bookcase is suspended from the ceiling creates striking compositions that descend from above and make it easy to organize and divide the space in a light way. The columns, of different lengths, descend from the ceiling to generate a dynamic game of suspension. Thanks to the lack of wall attachments, the bookcase can also be placed in front of windows.

Vetro Madras® BIT 03, design: Lissoni Associati, conserves the value of transparency while dividing space with a very subtle presence, like a fabric with such an open weave that it seems to ‘dematerialize.’ The glass has been designed for FerreroLegno with a texture that narrates the magic of glass in a game of peek-a-boo, where light remains free to enter spaces. There are two collections: Cristal, which makes the door a true, extremely flexible décor feature, and Scenario, a complete partition system that separates or creates visual continuity between rooms.

Bioadaptive lighting for the Nicandro partition designed by Egidio Panzera for Faram. The light, built into the wall, creates ambience to contribute to the wellbeing of people, with the possibility of regulating intensity and color temperature, boosting concentration and comfort, in line with natural circadian rhythms. At night, when no people are present, the blue light is activated to remove bacteria.
Light by HenryGlass
The doors by HenryGlass transform into true lighting systems, becoming an integral part of the interior design, thanks to the option of outfitting the perimeter with LED fixtures. Two models are available: the Light version with traditional edge strips, and the S-Light version reduced to a minimum in aesthetic terms, thus without strips. Both create evocative effects in any space in the home.
