Acoustic Room: privacy or socializing

From XXL to Mini, the box-in-box line by Fantoni adds movement to the workplace and finds the necessary psychological and functional middle ground between low density and high traffic

After a year of pandemic that has accelerated the evolution of workspaces already in progress in recent years, the ‘box-in-box’ solution for interior design scenarios has become a regular feature, more than ever before, in the organization of open-plan areas: a necessary middle ground between low density and high traffic.

While utilization of the architectural and real estate heritage of office buildings and headquarters is increasingly combined with a focus on human resources to improve wellbeing and performance, the Acoustic Rooms developed by Fantoni represent a new key of interpretation of space: by ‘shrinking’ the architectural box on different scales, the complete range contributes to create ‘work scenarios’ that are open but livable, functional and safe, flexible and connected.

With six different sizes, from XXL to S, the Acoustic Rooms balance needs of socializing, which are more pressing in recent times, with the necessity of privacy and concentration, safeguarding the sense of community and connection between people and ideas. For formal and informal meetings, in-person or remote encounters, temporary workstations or islands for concentration, breaks or telephone calls in more private conditions, these box-in-box structures offer spaces, furnishings and technological tools in a spatially and acoustically separated yet luminous context, visually connected to its surroundings.

The ceiling and internal walls are made with MDF 4akustik sound-absorbing panels, which guarantee excellent reverberation reduction. Various levels of personalization range from the simplest solution to installations with melamine floors and glass walls (single glazing with sliding doors, or double glazing in the hinged version). The internal lighting is built into the ceiling, like the ventilation system.

The series of Acoustic Rooms is completed by Mini, a comfortable, luminous phone booth (l100xd100xh228) with a self-supporting structure, which can be moved even when assembled. With two blank sides, a fixed glass side and a door, it is finished inside with the 4akustik sound-absorbing system, while the outside can be in melamine or fabric. Mini is supplied complete with flooring, aeration system, a counter and LED lighting built into the ceiling, ready for outfitting with electrical sockets.
