The construction of the residential project at 543 West 122nd Street, in Morningside Heights, uptown Manhattan, is in its final phases. Thirty-three stories for a total of 183 apartments, designed by the studio INC Architecture & Design. All the flats feature kitchens and bathroom complements supplied by ARAN Cucine & Bathroom Collection.
Truly something to boast about for the Abruzzo-based company, also due to an environmental focus shared with the architects. Clear objectives of sustainability have been set for the structural and social solutions. Such as the large windows for natural lighting throughout the day, the concrete with a high percentage of recycled material, controlled faucet flow to reduce water consumption by 38-45%, a system of disposal of construction refuse with a special management and recycling plan.
Then there is the magnificent garden by the landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburg, with a high-efficiency irrigation system, flourishing terraces and a ride-sharing bulletin board for the homeowners, to cut down on traffic and pollution.
Though the company’s involvement in the project came after the aesthetic concept had already been defined, the Aran World group has been able to react with force and speed. “We found ourselves having to analyze the work done up to that moment, bringing our own experience to improve the functional quality of the kitchens and bathrooms wherever possible, together with our usual painstaking attention to detail,” says Vincenzo Romanelli, General Export Manager of the group.
The kitchens and bath complements have been exclusively custom produced, with extensive personalization options for both the architects and the owners, in a selection featuring oak in pale or dark versions. In particular, the ‘Passo 13’ extra storage system offers increased modular space from 15 to 30%, providing an ideal starting point for easy customizing and response to the requests of the clients. In total harmony with the marble, wood and suspended ceilings of the building.
“Every kitchen has been built to the centimeter, adapting the measurements to the multiple layouts of the building – Romanelli explains. – The design phase was particularly complex precisely for this reason. The main effort, nevertheless, went into the bathrooms, which have a construction feature that is unusual for NYC. Often we are faced by solutions in narrow spaces, where every centimeter counts. In this case, though, the effect we tried to achieve was completely different. Each composition is a block on its own, framed by thick wooden gates that bring out the presence of the large spaces.”
Romanelli concludes: “What remains is satisfaction for having made our contribution to such an important project, in which we have gained experience that can be applied to future challenges. The Aran Contract Division has become an established reality, operating not just in the United States but also on other markets, with an organizational structure capable of taking an idea and transforming it into a product of the highest quality.”
