Lots of new initiatives for Tonellidesign: the Pesaro-based company specialized in working with glass presents a new collection, a new art director, and an expansion of the catalogue. “The company represents excellence in glass furnishings, which has made the brand famous, and we will continue to develop this fascinating material, but in combinations with others, like natural stone, wood and metals,” says the new art director, Arch. Massimo Castagna.
“We are moving forward with an ambitious project on multiple fronts: an expansion of the catalogue, involving not just décor complements but also offerings for the entire home, from lamps to bookcases, making it normal to think in terms of multi-material solutions.”

The outcome is a collection of ten items, of which some are reinterpretations of important long-term bestsellers, designed by Massimo Castagna, but also by famous and younger designers: “Tonelli has always worked with many talents, from Isao Hosoe to Karim Rashid, and we will continue to do so, with a special accent on emerging creators.”

The other objective is pursuit of a modern style: “In the 1970s and 1980s there was great ferment in the world of design, with visionary entrepreneurs and creative talents. I would like to get back to the rigor and fantasy of those years, in an effort to break out of trends that have been overworked today.”
This stylistic thread can be seen in the company’s new creations: “From the company’s debut in the field of lighting, with the Hyperion lamp which has already been a hit on the market, to the Hemingway bookcase in solid wood, with glass shelves that support the weight of the books thanks to a complex system; or Folio, the freestanding bookcase designed by Debonademeo Studio, where no two shelves are alike, no two ground glass elements are alike, with a base in Ceppo di Grè stone to add weight, hydro-sandblasted and perforated, in refined contrast with the transparency of the glass.
