On a single level, with an area of over 250 sqm, this apartment in the historic Lypky district of Kiev blends with the architectural image of the zone, mixing Art Deco and Empire style with the elegance and taste of design Made in Italy.

The architects Artur Sharf and Artem Zverev of Yodezeen have made compositional and material details into the leitmotif of the overall space, applying color to achieve refinement and lightness, through shades of gray, white and black, high-quality materials and the insertion of works of art. The client is a collector of Ukrainian art, so paintings by Viktor Sydorenko and sculptures by Nazar Bilyk play a strategic role to generate a setting of vivid creativity.

The open plan of the daytime area combines the kitchen with the living zone. The lack of structural divisions visually dilates the space, while permitting a fascinating long external view that also includes the Motherland Monument, the tallest of its kind in Eastern Europe.

The main accent of the nude-look kitchen is the finish of the central wall and the island made with Silver Roots natural stone. The ceiling and walls are enhanced by decorative moldings in Empire style, bringing an antique tone to an otherwise contemporary space. The sofa, armchairs and tables in the living area are by Minotti, the bar stools by Poliform and the dining table by Henge, over which winds the Inari lamp by Cameron Design House, made to measure to add a distinctive conceptual touch to this space for socializing.

The dark flooring is interrupted at the start of the corridor leading to the two bedrooms and three bathrooms, reshaping its herringbone scheme with slabs of stone separated by decorative brass inserts. The pale tones of the furnishings are echoed by the partitions in graphite glass and wood, and the surfaces in marble and stone.

The latter become a sophisticated prevailing choice in the bathrooms, used on walls and floors, while the guest bathroom also features a totemic freestanding washbasin in river stone. The various realms are enhanced by brass details and theatrical lighting, easily viewed from the rooms with which they share a refined atmosphere, but with different combinations of lights, textures and finishes.

Also for the bedroom zone, the architects have drawn on an Italian repertoire, inserting lamps by Flos and a bed with beside units by B&B Italia in the guestroom, while the master bedroom features armchairs by Giorgetti.
