As an integral part of the Club Hippique riding center in Grasse, the Le Paddock restaurant offers a relaxing culinary break, with a view of the estate of over 5 hectares and the lush vegetation of Provence. To add new personality to the restaurant and expand the area for guests of the Club, the owner Jean Michel Jahan, and the architect commissioned for the project, Julien Galina of the firm JG Architecture, have opted to extend the space of the restaurant outdoors, towards the natural light of the Mediterranean, with a new completely sheltered dining area of 93 square meters.
On the terrace, in contrast with the stone façade of the rural building, the extension has been totally designed to measure, together with the PMO of KE with Philippe Hattemberg, and installed thanks to a special configuration of the Isola 2 pergola.
The modular system with an aluminium structure stands out for its flexibility and formal aplomb, making it ideal for public venues, also because it has been designed to offer protection from sunlight, wind and humidity, and to ensure great effectiveness in case of rain, thanks to the mobile dividers and the built-in drainage-gathering system.
The version seen here is the motorized self-supporting model in a dark color, ready for remote control, closed by sliding panoramic glazing to make the new space comfortable in both thermal and visual terms, in every season of the year. Vertical Screeny GC rollers have been applied to protect the zone most exposed to sunlight, to the southeast of the terrace.
The depressed arch form of the pergola permits reduction of the height while improving the image, also emphasized inside by the possibility of adding white LED lighting with dimmers.
To utilize the entire available outdoor space, two Qubica Plumb awnings have been installed to shelter the western side of the terrace, one with a length of 670 cm by depth of 310 cm, coupled with a second unit offering 450 cm of width. These are motorized models with cases, based on an idea by the architect Robby Cantarutti, of limited vertical size and bulk. They have been developed to fit perfectly into existing architectural contexts, thanks to the compact housing case with squared lines, and the totally concealed attachments.
