Altaj drives the Lualdi revolution

Altaj, designed by SBGA|Blengini Ghirardelli, is the new offering from Lualdi, forcefully shifting direction with respect to recent trends

After years of doing whatever was possible to avoid being noticed, increasingly camouflaged in walls and keeping faith with the tenet “do not disturb,” today a reverse trend is making headway. Only the manufacturer of doors par excellence – namely Lualdi – could have made such a daring change of direction.
The project begins in and around 2018, when Giuseppe Blengini and Agostino Girardelli (SBGA) knocked on the door (symbolically enough) of the offices of the Lualdi family, bringing an idea of the door that represents a small but significant revolution in the world of indoor casements.

Altaj is an aggressive door. Those who choose it – in whatever finish – know they will never lose sight of it, because the door will always make its presence felt.
The protrusion of at least 1.5 cm from the wall provides vivid decorative impact; the lack of a jamb and the symmetrical design create a unit resembling an impervious monolith, a parallelepiped at the service of the interior design.
The structure of the frame can be finished in a wide range of materials: from cowhide to stoneware, wallpaper to wood, offering the world of interiors a door with infinite possibilities of personalization, a typical characteristic of Lualdi’s products.

Altaj, whose name comes from Altai Mountains in Asia, will appeal to many people, but not to all of them. It will be a favorite for spaces where elegance plays a leading role, and where “an open door” means much more than a simple “welcome.”
