Poltrona Frau looks East

The Tolentino-based company opens a new flagship store in Osaka, Japan

Poltrona Frau, the company that has coined the term ‘leathership,’ continues its expansion in the Orient with a flagship store in Osaka, Japan, in collaboration with the local partner IDC Otsuka.
A showroom of about 380 square meters along the Midosuji, the main street of the city, running north-south and connecting the business and shopping districts.

The store is on a single level, honed down to the smallest details, like the weave of wooden ribbons of the walls, not unlike the treillage of Italian-style gardens. A space to narrate the DNA of the historic Tolentino-based brand, in Valle del Chienti, a district specializing in leatherwork, to Japanese clients.

The new showroom features cult items like the Vanity Fair armchair from 1930, reinterpreted for its 90th birthday in an even more comfortable version, the Let It Be and Come Together sofas both designed by Palomba Serafini, the Times bed by Spalvieri&Del Ciotto, the Archibald armchair by Jean-Marie Massaud, the Cestlavie tables by Gamfratesi nad the Xi lights by Neri&Hu.

With the Osaka store, Poltrona Frau’s strategy of expansion on Asian markets continues. Over the last two years the firm has made other strategic moves, including the store in Tokyo, one in Seoul, South Korea, a unit in Cambodia, at Phnom Penh, and two other showrooms in China.
