The encounter between Elena Salmistraro and Cedit has been of the variety that leaves a deep mark and, at the same time, launches a signal to the ceramics market: inspiration and dreams, translated into creative imagination, can find concrete form in a company that has the means and technologies suited to the designer’s ideas and – above all – believes in them.
The Chimera collection translates the inspiration (and aspiration) of the designer into a physical object, keeping faith with the Greek mythology from which the term is derived. It is interpreted in four themes – Empathy, Roots, Rhythm and Color – each expressing an area of symbolism, each with its own path.

The game of textures is one of the distinguishing factors of the four collections. Elena Salmistraro – in a sort of stream of consciousness – climbs the slope of personal experiences and captures contexts that shift into drawings, which in turn become collections of ceramic facings.
Weaving and its material sensations play a leading role in the Ritmo collection, where the Bauhaus inspiration and the graphic expression of two icons like Gunta Stölzl and Anni Albers blend in a harmonious way. Art Deco is the driver of the Empatia collection, perhaps the most playful of the set, while fabrics and their patterns provide guidelines for Radici, and Colore – with its infinitely repeated graphics – seems to embrace the concept of routine.
Lots of dreams, many suggestions, but also concrete results: Chimera by Elena Salmistraro has an expressive power that also (above all?) goes well with contract applications, from offices to retail facilities. Interior designers can choose, mix and adapt the range of products.
