Light takes care of nature and its inhabitants. As seen in technical lighting projects for outdoor settings developed by companies and designers with new forms of awareness. Tested, pondered and produced in keeping with the values imposed by the times, with which design has to responsibly come to terms. Innovation is the word that links them all, concentrating know-how and future vision, while diversifying in a range of different values.
Such as a humanistic approach, for example, because ‘design’ means not just form and style, but also observation of human and emotional relations with objects. Artemide, with Walking by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, offers a dynamic project focused on human perception, relying on visual and psychological aspects through interaction with sensors: different luminous scenarios starting from three performance levels of white or colored light, single or combined inside the same element in keeping with a spatial gradient. Flos also makes emotion the key factor of the sculptural Heco collection created by Nendo, where an illuminated sphere in opaline glass rests on a slender metal structure with a particular curvature, almost as if to represent slight flexing, generating two configurations of objects: a side table or a floor lamp leaning on a wall.
A logic of consumption based on careful selection of materials and long life: Martinelli Luce, with Frog designed by Emiliana Martinelli and made in polyethylene, uses rotomolding in the colors blue, teal, yellow and black. Karman applies aluminium and resin for the Nilo lamp by Matteo Ugolini, a slender, flexible stem with a matte white diffuser placed at the top as the light source. Penta makes the unusual choice of stone and wood for the monoblock structure of Angolo, design Cristián Mohaded, an extremely sophisticated sculpture of light.

Silère by Viabizzuno – Design Devid Chipperfield
The collaboration with international designers becomes a precious opportunity for discussion and exchange. David Chipperfield ‘constructs’ the powder-coated aluminium body of Silère for Viabizzuno, a wall fixture with diffuser in transparent pyrex, while Naoto Fukasawa creates – for Kettal – a granite monolith, Half Dome, capable of triggering infinite variations of light, suggesting the glow of the moon.
For all-around interaction, Otto designed by Federica Farina for Oluce, a path marker lamp whose head can be adjusted with a mechanism for directional lighting, and Meridiano: a stool, table and lamp all in one, designed by Jordi Vilardell and Meritxell Vidal for Vibia, blending material and light in an evocative chiaroscuro effect. Finally, freedom of movement for a new vision of portable light offered by Axolight with Float, design Mario Alessiani: a mushroom cap in aluminium, independent of its base, equipped with soft-touch controls, 9-hour battery charged via USB, ready for replacement when required.
