MuDeFri: the story of Moroso is now online

The virtual exhibition “Moroso (1952-2005)” can be seen on the website of the Design Museum of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Curated by Anna Aurora Lombardi

Friuli and Moroso: a solid bond that can now be explored in virtual reality. You can visit the website of MuDeFri, the Design Museum of Friuli Venezia Giulia, founded in 2016 with the motto “Think Global, Act Local,” to see the exhibition Moroso (1952-2005).

The show is curated by the director of MuDeFri Anna Aurora Lombardi, and has been produced with the support of the Architects’ Association of the Province and City of Udine. It is the story of a Friuli-based company that starting in the 1950s has become an interpreter of Made in Italy in the world, through a path of innovation and research. Part of the success comes from collaboration with outstanding and internationally acclaimed designers like Patricia Urquiola, Tom Dixon, Konstantin Grcic, Ross Lovegrove, Marcel Wanders and Nendo.

In a period in which the ‘homes of culture’ are closed due to the Coronavirus emergency, this is a chance to know more about a story that will soon reach its 70th year. The itinerary extends through virtual ‘rooms’ placed in chronological order, to allow visitors to trace back through the most important episodes in the life of Moroso, with a selection of the company’s most famous products. For example? The Soft Heart collection from 1990, created by Ron Arad, the Serpentine sofa by Tom Dixon from 2003, or the Supernatural chair by Ross Lovegrove in 2005.

The Design Museum of Friuli Venezia Giulia, MuDeFri, is part of the MuDe network, which began with the Design Museum of Tuscany, MuDeTo. The project is to create a virtual Design Museum in every Italian region, as the objective expression of the various cases of creative and productive excellence on a national scale.
