Fornasetti at Harrods

The brand opens its first point of sale outside of Italy in London, with the punk edition of the “Tema e Variazioni” plate

Good news for lovers of the inimitable Fornasetti style living or passing through the UK. The brand has just opened its first point of sale outside of Italy, in London, on the third floor of Harrods in the Luxury Home section. For the occasion the Milan-based atelier has created a new decoration for the Tema e Variazioni series, a plate that mixes the famous visage of Lina Cavalieri with British punk style.

“The new shop is the result of an original creative project and focuses on one of the expressions of the Fornasetti imaginery, that of the love of graphics, abstraction and optical illusion, which blurs references points and defies proportions,” says Barnaba Fornasetti, artistic director of the firm.

Seventy square meters contain an ample selection of products, furniture, complements, porcelain, wallpaper, fragrances for the home, as well as a customizing service for personalized pieces. The concept has been developed by the studio Brinthworth, starting from the ideas of rhythm, repetition and illusion, three of the main facets of Fornasetti’s visual language. The structure of the walls, alternating full and empty zones, the use of materials and colors, as well as a few small touches of magic, recreate the dreamy atmosphere of the Fornasetti universe, playing with disorienting perspectives and optical illusions in an ironic, captivating way.
