Business and culture at DDB

Return of the appointment with the Spring Market at DDB in New York, for design professionals: full immersion in history, trends and inspirations, with authoritative international industry leaders

Design is the focus at the Decoration & Design Building, in the company of outstanding authors on the publishing scene, dozens of design influencers and hundreds of curious participants. The biennial DDB Spring Market (organized by Vanguards & Visionaries) presents a true learning experience open only to professionals, this year in coordination with the closing of NYCxDesign, on 22 May.

As the ideal conclusion of the event aimed at a wider sphere of international creativity, the Spring Market brings together authors and aspiring exponents of design from around the world at a single location – 979 3rd Avenue. Three keynote presentations, 15 showroom programs, 10 ‘experiential’ events, 4 cocktail receptions and 68 open houses: these are the numbers of the 2019 program.

width=Stories, successes, secrets of outstanding interior designers on the international scene – from whom to learn and get inspired – are the red thread of the three keynote presentations, starting with the session “Inspiring Designers: an in-depth look at their obstacles and rewards” whose protagonists are the designers Robert Stilin, Genevieve Gorder and Jeff Andrews.
In the afternoon it’s the turn of Sophia Salaman (executive editor of The World of Interiors) and the grand dame of design Mary Fox Linton on the theme of “Interiors International: Captivating a Global Clientele.” They are followed by a grand finale focused on “Design Royalty” with special guests like Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill, Nina Campbell and David Harber.

The new developments continue inside the D&D Building with its 130 showrooms (including many new entries like Dedon, Saint-Louis, Romo, McKinnon and Harris), covering a range of interior design sectors – from furnishings to lighting, facings to fabrics to accessories – bearing witness to a design culture and heritage extending from America to Europe, including the most authoritative representatives of Made in Italy.
