Generation X's vision

The poetic side of the design world is told by its new contemporary talents: at Friedman Benda, in Chelsea, goes on stage the controversial energy of the design culture expressed by the creative and innovative ideas of Nacho Carbonell, Maarten Baas, Raw Edges, Joris Laarman, Michael Anastassiades which reinvent the aesthetics of the sublime

Iconic objects collected in a unique selection curated by Libby Sellers and Brent Dzekciorius and hosted by one of New York‘s most acclaimed galleries. At Friedman Benda, An Accelerated Culture is an exhibition not to be missed, a journey through furnishings, lighting design, objects that have marked a turning point in the world of creativity.

The list of names is really impressive: Maarten Baas, Nacho Carbonell, Michael Anastassiades, Aldo Bakker, Tord Boontje, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Paul Cocksedge, Matali Crasset, Martino Gamper, Konstantin Grcic, Thomas Heatherwick, Joris Laarman, Max Lamb, Julia Lohmann, nendo, Raw Edges, Jerszy Seymour, Bertjan Pot, Studio Wieki Somers, Studio Job… Designers who have forged their own paths, creating a new “stylistic” trend – also known as art design – eliminating the boundaries between objects an artistic artifacts. Designers who have also questioned the industry, highlighting the importance of artisans and craftsmanship, placed in a new context.
