Opera Contemporary’s journey towards its highest expressive form is almost complete. The journey of the brand’s profound evolution began two years ago with the creation of a line of furniture with a strong character, a more linear design and a multi-material approach. With the 2019 proposals taking the stage at the Milanese event of the Salone del Mobile.Milano – harmonious development of the products that made their debut last year – the proposal of Opera Volume 3 is admirable: not a simple catalogue, but a story in images of the new brand identity, destined to also become a model for the exhibition spaces of Opera Contemporary in the world. In this renewal process, in fact, the retail network was involved, which the company primarily aims at expanding, to have a point of reference in every strategic city, and secondly to establish the ideal set by mood and furnishing concept: it will be in fact the scenography of the Milanese festival to ‘establish the rules’, that is, to offer set-up proposals for showrooms and store windows (from 70 to 40 square metres, up to more compact corners), expressed in the living, dining, lounge and sleep areas. “We have already identified the starting areas from which to begin this process and which have already given us positive feedback – explains Stefano Zecca, Opera Contemporary Brand Manager – namely China, where we already have four monobrand stores, including the latest opening in Shanghai at the end of 2018; then it will be the turn of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and United States where we intend to return with renewed vigour.”
And it is this euphoric momentum of openness that drives the brand even in the stylistic imprint, more and more oriented towards contamination with the modern, but maintaining the warm and colourful atmosphere that distinguish it: soft padding, quilted craftmanship, burnished brass, gold and metal and (brand new) black painted finishes; but also white and grey marbles (often in contrast), floral wallpapers and fabrics with enveloping nuances.

The emblem of this gradual and natural evolution is the Cosmo seating series – which boasts a new gold finish and black painted finish – presented for the first time last year in the sofa and armchair version, which has now become a direct source of inspiration for the new Stacy dining chair with armrests, whose high backrest keeps the distinctive external quilting.
Further development of the sofa is its modular variant with dormeuse or with pouf end, supported by a base in burnished metal. Solutions that certainly are of special interest for the contract world, with which the company is increasingly demonstrating its affinity. In fact, the evidence of this is the recent realisation of one of the sample apartments of the XXII Carat residential complex in the Palm Jumeirah district in Dubai, designed entirely by Opera Contemporary.
