Inexhaustible energy

A new birthday to celebrate, a co-branding with the fashion sector, a corollary of furnishing proposals and increasingly profitable collaborations. It is an atmosphere of exciting design euphoria that accompanies Porada at Design Week

Although the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the company’s foundation ended last year, there are still countless reasons to keep the attention on the brand. If 2018 and the historical milestone it represented provided the opportunity to rethink the origins of the company and the values of high quality and craftsmanship that it has been conveying for as many as 7 decades, 2019 stands out in the timeline as a further celebration year for Porada in which it can pay homage to its design: it is the tenth anniversary of the Infinity table, an icon of the company as well as an archetype of a poetic approach to interior that comes from the working of solid wood in sculptural form.

The designer Stefano Bigi has treated the material, changing its status, towards a palpable fluidity and softness that are defined in the intertwined ribbon of canaletto walnut that comprises the base. From the original coffee table with a round glass top, a corollary of variants has then been derived – from the dining table with round and oval top to the elliptical or rectangular one, with the possibility of a double base, in addition to the vast proposal of finishes.

And it is precisely this profound craftsmanship that has created a surprising liaison with another Italian company that has made tradition its distinctive style of manufacturing: during Milan Design Week Porada presents its first co-branding activity with Fabi, a company based in the Marche region, which since 1965 has been producing sartorial shoes. From the meeting of these two companies – which took place for the first time four years ago when Porada furnishings became part of the Fabi shops in the world – a capsule collection of limited edition sneakers (men-women) was born, inspired by the chromatic and stylistic codes of the brand’s interior identity; specifically, the direct aesthetic appeal originates from two seats that Emmanuel Gallina had designed for Porada that are among the new products for 2019.

The Porada flagship store in Via Borgospesso – which celebrates a year of presence in the Milanese district in April – becomes an outstanding showcase for the debut of the collection, in a communion of intents and synergies that cross through design and fashion. And speaking of new products, Design Week is the stage par excellence for the launch of the new collections, that between product developments (to be noted the new four-poster bed of the Ziggy bed line) and brand new proposals (such as the Patrick Jouin mobile bar), enhance the interior solutions for the living area and the night environment. Historical collaborations are confirmed, among them, with the designers Marconato & Zappa – designers of a new seat, a dining table and a new sideboard – but even the most recent ones have been strengthened, starting from the profitable synergy with David Dolcini who designs a modular bookcase in canaletto walnut, after the success of the Argo modular sofa launched last year.
