A partner of the Milano Contract District project, the first Interior Design Platform in the world, awarded an Honourable Mention in the latest edition of the Compasso d’Oro, and selected by BNP Paribas for having innovated the real estate process through its marketing services and input, transforming the simple delivery of a product into an exclusive large consignment kitchen project.

Anticipating a desire for exclusivity on the part of clients who would purchase a high-end residential product (clients like those of “Horti”), Milano Contract District responded to the invitation from BNP Paribas RE with an Ernestomeda kitchen suitable for every unit, reinterpreted specifically by the designer of the entire real estate project: architect Michele De Lucchi.
“We are honoured to have been awarded this project, with an entity as important as BNP Paribas RE, thanks to an idea for an exclusive product coupled with an innovative concept of supply in the real estate sector,” declared Lorenzo Pascucci, general manager of MCD.

This particular model of kitchen is characterised by its versatile design, capable of creating a modern kitchen space through the use of textured solutions and varying degrees of tactile perception. Simplicity and sophistication are expressed through subtle contrasts in colour and form, making the kitchen warm and inviting. The duality of the volumes, together with alternating glossy and matte colours, create a kitchen model that is fluid and dynamic.

Michele De Lucchi’s design gives the kitchen an updated look, accomplished thanks to the bas-relief workmanship of the wood. The rhythm of the panels’ surface is dictated by an arrangement of regular slats that exalt the chiaroscuro effect and make the light stand out. The technology available to Ernestomeda and the choice of European ash, one of the woods most suitable for numerically controlled milling, made it possible to experiment with and define a new architectural skin which reinvents the kitchen as an object of aesthetic and symbolic value.
The three-dimensional design of the cladding is inspired by the sketches and sculptures of Michele De Lucchi’s Cataste series, archetypal and evocative constructions for which “a change of use, a functional adaptation, a technological modification, a real estate agreement, an estimated appraisal, or a new life style that will upset the architectural value of a pile of wood will never exist.”

At the centre of the kitchen design, viewable on the second floor of the “Casello” on Via Orti 25, is the elegant island characterised by wood cabinets designed by De Lucchi, “framed” by the Breccia Imperiale granite countertop. The rest of the cabinetry is distinguished by bases and columns in Laccato Opaco Moka, by the countertop, and by the back of the cabinetry in Stone+ Cocoa Velour as well as by the InLine wall-mounted cabinets with light coloured reflective glass and Laccato Opaco Moka frame. Completing the display, the living area is characterised by panelling, suspended bases, and shelves in Laccato Opaco Grigio Vaio, with work surface and raised shelf in the same finish.
