In the footsteps of the Great Masters

Ideal Standard announces its collaboration with the Palomba Serafini Associati studio and Milan’s Design Center Institute

The history of ‘Made in Italy’ design also includes Ideal Standard. The company, specialised in bathroom décor, already has various products designed by great Italian masters like Gio Ponti and Achille Castiglioni in its catalogue. It is along this track that it announces its collaboration with renowned studio Palomba Serafini Associati.

Torsten Türling, CEO of Ideal Standard International, explains the brand’s choice: “The previous masters of design opened Ideal Standard’s eyes to design culture and left us a rich patrimony of drawings and documents that are a testament to their work. Under the influence of these masters, for us there was no one more qualified than Ludovica and Roberto Palomba to explore this precious patrimony and apply it to the 21st century.”

The goal of Ideal Standard is to redefine modern living with innovative technology, but without losing sight of style and aesthetics.
An objective which designer Roberto Palomba has chosen to commit to: “A well-designed object completely transcends its function and becomes timeless. Some of Ideal Standard’s products, created by Italian icons like Ponti and Castiglioni, are the embodiment of this principle. I’m honoured to follow in the footsteps of these Italian masters and to share in Ideal Standard’s future of designing and developing innovations that, once again, will redefine not only bathroom design, but design in general.”

The studio’s first designs will be presented on occasion of ISH 2019, the main international trade show dedicated to the theme of responsible water and energy management in construction.
Furthermore, Ideal Standard has announced a collaboration with the Design Center Institution in Milan, where Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba will work closely with a design team and Ideal Standard’s experts to shape the company’s future design philosophy.
