Just a few more days and the London Design Biennale will officially begin. From 4 to 23 September, over 40 countries will showcase their exhibitions at the Somerset House. The theme chosen for the second edition is “Emotional States”. Although the first edition (2016) was a very successful one this year visitors will take part in a renewed show, with the inclusion of Sumantro Ghose in the role of managing director.
“I’m thrilled to be joining London Design Biennale in time for its second edition in 2018. I look forward to welcoming influential curators, designers, architects, artists and thinkers from around the world this year”, says Ghose.

The theme draws inspiration from a reflection on the Gallup Global Emotions Report 2017, a survey based on 149,000 interviews in 142 countries, which measured feelings and emotions, values usually overlooked by traditional economic indicators.
The London Design Biennale investigates the effects of design on our lives and how furnishings and projects influence our behavior.
Brazil, Desmatamento
Italy will take part in the event with a project entitled “L’Architettura degli Alberi” (The Architecture of Trees), an exhibition/journey where a selection of 24 drawings from the twenty-year research by Cesare Leonardi and Franca Stagi take pride of place. The aim is to illustrate to visitors the importance of nature, stressing the link between man and the environment through the concept of “restorative design”.
