“We are extremely satisfied with the acquisition of Calligaris, a big name in Italian design, internationally renowned in the high-end furnishing sector”. The senior partner of Alpha Private Equity Fund 7, Edoardo Lanzavecchia, announces the take-over agreement for Calligaris S.p.A, based in Manzano, in the Udine province. The Calligaris family continues to hold a 20% share in the Group through its own holding, Altair. Alessandro Calligaris, at the company’s helm since 1966, continues to serve as its Chairman.

Mr. Lanzavecchia sheds light on Alpha’s strategy: “The group will embrace opportunities for growth on reference markets and sectors linked to furnishing, also through targeted acquisitions, aimed at enhancing distribution and product synergies”. The De Marchi family, founder of the Ditre brand which the group acquired in 2017, will also invest in Calligaris S.p.A., with a minor stake via the De Marchi Group.

The Friuli-based company is specialised in the manufacture of chairs, tables and sofas and consists of three brands, Calligaris, Connubia and Ditre, with its very own network of 620 stores across 100 countries. The agreement with Alpha is truly essential, as the Chiarman explains: “In order to be more competitive and pursue its role as lead player of markets on which it operates, it needs to expand its own offer to include other furnishing products. This strategy requires new resources, which is why we have called upon the Alpha fund to share this project with us”.
