Sicis has arrived in Bangladesh. The Italian brand, renowned for its mosaics, designs the internal and external spaces of Villa Baridhara, a building located in the diplomatic area of Gulshan, in the center of Dhaka.
The city, the most populous one in Bangladesh, quickly developed in the 70s in a disorderly manner and is located in the heart of the region with the largest jute plantation in the world. In this context stands out the modern and luminous five-storey villa transformed by Sicis architects into a treasure chest of luxury, representative of a unique elegant style with a contemporary touch.
Foyer
Art plays an essential role in the building: in the entrance there are mosaics and paintings that develop refined abstract patterns. On the ground floor, attention is attracted by iconic seats such as Milleuna Luna, Simphony sofà, Madame Butterfly and Rose. The large dining room hosts a rectangular metal table with a top in Vetrite, the Fidanzamento chairs on the head and chairs decorated with large roses in soft velvet. Sicis has accentuated the importance to furnishings and light fixtures, drawing on its own collection of fabrics, creating a sort of leitmotiv through the entire project.
Mosaico Sicis
In a city located alongside the bed of a river, the Buriganga, pools were imperative. An exterior one positioned on the fourth floor and made of iridescent mosaic tiles – which matches the color of the wood chosen to cover the surrounding floor – as well as an interior one on the ground floor that surrounds the living room, also decorated with glass paste.The Italian brand also pays great attention to details: from the handles sheathed in gold or silver mosaic, to the mirrors and many other elements for interior decoration.
