Dedar lands in New York

The Italian textile manufacturer announces the opening of its first single-brand showroom in the United States

Dedar has announced the opening of a new space in New York. After more than 20 years of distribution through showroom partners in the United States, the textile publisher inaugurates a new space in the heart of Manhattan for the display of fabric and wallpaper collections of Dedar and Hermès.

The 240-square meter showroom is located on the tenth floor of the Decoration and Design Building (D&D: a strategic location, which represents a reference point for the interior and architecture studios of Manhattan. The new space was designed by an Italian designer, the Florence-based Michele Bönan, a former collaborator of Dedar for other projects.

The Tuscan architect tells: “My approach to design begins with outlining the atmosphere, identifying the place, being inspired by the context and the way I live in that specific environment”. Bönan then explains from where the inspiration for Dedar’s new home arrives: “The inspiration comes from the architecture of American houses built during the 1960s. The creative idea behind this project is that of a loft, a theatrical space where the alternation of darkness and light is used to enhance the real protagonists of the scene: the fabrics”.

The space hosts over 3000 fabrics and wallpapers, both for residential use and contract projects; the vast range of color variations on display, from classic to more contemporary, are declined on the velvets, silks, satins and natural fibers for which Dedar is known.
