After some of London’s headline projects, including Villa Walala and Walala X Play presented during London Design Festival last year, Camille Walala reinvents the façade of a seven-storey building in Brooklyn’s Industry City creative hub: a 40m high challenge, her tallest building to date, revealed on the opening day of WD Brooklyn, 16 May.
The mural design, which has been inspired by the architecture of the building, particularly the repetition of windows, is a vibrant and decorative statement that does justice to the creativity housed within. A permanent transformation of great impact thanks to the palette inspired by the colours bathing the site at sunset.
From Brooklyn to Manhattan: Walala presents a second project for WantedDesign, in collaboration with Visual Magnetics, the inventor of magnetic textiles. From 19 to 22 May, an endlessly reconfigurable, 4.3m x 2.4m interactive installation invites visitors to engage directly with the playful approach to form and colour creating their own interpretation of the work.

Camilla Walala will be discussing her two project as part of WantedDesign Manhattan’s rich programme of talks at 12.30pm on Monday 21 May, in connection with the theme of “Happier and healthier living and working space”.
