MDF Italia unveils new image

MDF Italia used Milan Furniture Fair to reveal its new brand image, a change seen in everything from the design of its stand to its new products

At the heart of MDF Italia’s refreshed, more dynamic image is a desire to tap into new design styles and harness the power of the innovative trends currently present on the market.

The new image was unveiled at Salone del Mobile.Milano, where the brand’s exhibition space laid bare the changes afoot. The graphic concept was created by Leonardo Sonnoli, while styling was curated by Martina Sanzarello and design was overseen by Alessandro Scandurra, who explained: “The lines, shaping and materials used for the objects create an image of lightness and simplicity, underpinned by the strength and character of the materials and design.”

Among the pieces on show were the Tense material collection of tables by Piergiorgio & Michele Cazzaniga, now with the new Tense marmo model, which uses marble to bring a new look and material feel to the table. The inlaid design of the table top evokes Kandinsky’s “Point and Line to Plane” theory.

Also appearing at the event were electrified versions of the Axy tables by Claudio Bellini, designed to explore the contract sector and experiment with a new material in aluminium. Jean-Marie Massaud’s Neil lounge chair brought a more radical style, combining cosy comfort with an elegant use of technology and sophisticated, natural finishes. Meanwhile, Luca Nichetto’s modular Quark system provided an example of how a variety of different elements can be mixed and matched to create wall-mounted and free-standing solutions.

MDF Italia’s also used Salone del Mobile.Milano to showcase Jean Nouvel’s Super_Position, a collection of display pieces characterised by their lightweight, simple design and graphic impact, reviving the tradition of using aluminium.

And last but not least, Jean-Marie Massaud’s Yale Bed takes the design idea behind the Yale X sofa and adjusts it for the bedroom, incorporating the cosy padding into the headboard and maintaining the simple aesthetics for the base.
