A lifetime of design

Porada is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a dual tribute to its past which has remained on the pulse, and to its story centred around wood, material and not least, the creative minds which craft them

Seventy years of history, achievements and success. Seventy years of subtle resolution, discretely upholding the value of balanced measure which has since developed into the brand’s distinguishing feature. When it comes to the company’s story, “our products do all the talking”. Solid wood accessories which over time have found new expressions, new combinations with different materials, new functional purposes, coupled with upholstered elements, which unfailingly distinguish themselves in virtue of their formal elegance, warm materiality and meticulous craftsmanship, all founding and fundamental precepts for the company.

The products themselves are a tribute on occasion of this illustrious anniversary, celebrated with the re-edition of three historic pieces from the 70s: the table Tondo, the side tables Trittico and Tony Tre, with tweaked technical details, seamlessly insertable within contemporary contexts. Proof of the brand’s timeless design is even expressed in an air scent the company has treated itself to on occasion of this celebration. Created in collaboration with experts from the Artistic Perfume sector, Paolo Fadelli and Arturetto Landi, the exclusive fragrance conveys the essence of Porada, in an olfactory translation of its wooden notes, for an ambience laden with charm.

Air scent for the Porada’s seventy anniversary

Seventy years of Porada have gone down as a new chapter in design history, a chapter which speaks of a company, like many others, founded in the Brianza district, from a small artisan workshop specialised in the production of chairs, by Luigi Allievi. The story then develops along the lines of more articulated production, collaborations with architects such as Salvatore Alberio, Carlo Cerbaro and Martino Perego, followed by Tarcisio Colzani, who developed the Cuccagna system, the successful series of equipped columns for home and beyond. This list of designers continues to grow over time, as does the constellation of furnishing elements created by them. The story then develops along the lines of a recent trend involving the combination of wood with other noble materials such as crystal, marble, metal and stoneware, the latest 2018 addition to the Porada universe.

This year the universe has manifested itself with creations by David Dolcini, creator of the new sofa Argo (which distinguishes itself in virtue of upholstery accompanying elements), Patrick Jouin who has contributed towards the living collection conceived last year with the chair Emma. Andrea Borgogni and Gino Carollo are the respective creators of a new sofa and triptych for the bedroom, Staffan Tollgard (the latest addition to the list of collaborators) has contributed four new side tables of different sizes and finishings. Last but not least, we also have the presence of historic professionals: Marconato & Zappa, Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, Carlo Ballabio and Tarcisio Colzani who mark 35 years of presence at Salone del Mobile alongside the company, with a mirror collection. This is Porada’s story of people, products and passion.
