Nemo’s Paris debut

The inauguration of Nemo’s first showroom in Paris was one of a host of events that lit up the French capital during Maison&Objet

Situated in Rue du Bac, just a few metres from the Seine, Nemo’s first showroom in Paris represents the next step in the brand’s international development strategy. The store is located in the 7ème arrondissement, with its vibrant colours and crackling atmosphere.

Inspired by Art Deco, the store has been designed by Charles Kalpakian, who was the same man behind Nemo’s Wall Shadows and Tubes collections. Kalpakian has designed the store interior to resemble a Paris apartment, a theme that runs right from the entrance through to the indoor garden, which is dominated by Le Corbusier’s Borne Béton lamp. Large, vertical surfaces bring structure to the space, providing the perfect setting for the wall lamps on display.

The sense of brightness is accentuated by the use of glass and colour, with shades ranging  from pale pinks to intense, sea blue on the walls. Meanwhile, the blue glass and marble flooring creates a stunning multi-coloured effect.

“Unusually, when Charles showed us the design for the space we knew it was perfect from the off, so we started work immediately,” explains Nemo CEO Federico Palazzari. “Paris has always been an inspiration for Nemo – as well as being an important market, it’s the place where our designs are born and develop. From the Le Corbusier Foundation to collections by Jean Marie Massaud, Jean Nouvel, Rudy Ricciotti and Charles Kalpakian, Paris has been a constant – and, probably, vital – factor in everything we do.”

The brand already has a presence in Paris in the shape of Nemo France, which is responsible for distribution in France.
