Classical looks are dressed in silver. Now more than ever, in-vogue furniture companies are looking for a new take on what they have to offer; a new allure and new designs to create an interior that harks back to the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the production. Angelo Cappellini has covered all his new products with precious silver casting which is lighter and softer than the usual gold leaf. It’s a solution perfectly balanced between his past roots anchored in the classical approach and new trends that open up to more modern and fashionable trends. This is the setting in which his new collections of full-furniture sets for the living room, dining room and sleeping areas stand out from the crowd. The concept is expressed in a plurality of different forms thanks to the use of varying finishes that illuminate the product. Whether the finishing touches are applied using silver leaf, white with silver details, silver coating or a polished effect with silver details, the result is unchanged. This approach has been implemented on different styles. There’s an ode to classical Louis XVI with the Nievo living room finished in polished white silver leaf, as well as the imperial style that characterises the Bordignon dining room and brand-new Paladini living room. The former is dominated by a 3.5 metre table inlaid in maple and finished with antique-style hazelnut that features polished silver leaf details. The latter is characterised by more dominant blue touches in the upholstery fabric. Finally, even Baroque is referenced in a combination of sparkles that come to life in the dual offering for the living and sleeping areas: the Austen living room and Pavesi bedroom respectively. The bedroom in particular comes across as a luxurious suite with toilet, breakfast area and fireplace. The bed itself is framed by a large archway that even incorporates the headboard. A white lacquer with antique-looking silver is used as the finish. Nevertheless, the experiments do not stop with his use of finishes, in which the notion of the classical doesn’t alter. Among Angelo Cappellini’s new range is his first product inspired by a more modern style. In the creation stage he turned to Opera Contemporary – a modern and elegant brand belonging to the company – who loaned the furniture designer one of their headline products: the Butterfly sofa that has been upholstered in damask, which is found in more traditional interior designs.
