BJDW2015. Ten areas for Design Hop

In 10 areas across 4 of the capital’s District, from 23th September to 7th October at Beijing Design Week 2015 will be on scene the exhibition program Design Hop with installation, pop-up, seminar, awards, and lectures will activate a contestualized dialogue between the Chinese capital and the creative initiative

Coming to its 5th edition, BJDW 2015 keeps on broadening its territorial and conceptual expanse, further addressing the contextual challenges of nurturing and developing specific tools, products, skill-sets and research environments that meet the needs of contemporary China, as a test-bed for long-lasting visions that can produce far-reaching impact on global scenarios.

In 10 areas across 4 of the capital’s Districts, the 2015 Design HOP program places an emphasis on collaborative ventures and communal engagement with an interest in projects supplying new services, spaces and offerings inspired by the city, thus reinforcing its positioning as an experiential platform through which a diversified range and scale of design operations are activated via public fruition.

Each of the ten area will feature a thematically-driven core of projects made resonant across its spatial and infrastructural givens. From the future of housing and smart ecosystems, urban acupuncture and ‘craft architecture’, to the impact of emerging tech on fast changing urban demographics and lifestyles.

Looking back at 2014, Design Hop was again one of the most dynamic and interactive sections of Beijing Design Week (BJDW) with a total of 362 projects by 200 international organizations and designers from 30 countries.

Other section of BDJW continue, like the China Design Challenge – within the Dashilar Design Community project to improve quality of life in the historic district of Dashilar – the Smart City Expo, and Talk series.

Last but not least, Dubai will be the Guest City for the upcoming edition, and Beijing Design Week will then feature as a guest international design week at the inaugural Dubai Design Week next October.
