Reissued and covered Gio Ponti’s D.270.2

Molteni&C reissues Gio Ponti’s D.270.1 and D.270.2 with new finishes and essences. Five young textile designers redress them with exclusive designed fabrics made by Rubelli and Dedar

"And here you are the new wide chair with a narrow and folding seat". This is the way Gio Ponti wrote in 1970, describing the birth of this chair, far cry from the others.

"To sit comfortable, crossing legs a chair should be composed by a very little seat and a big seatback inclined in this way" Molteni & C, in collaboration with Gio Ponti Archives, republished the chair and the armchair D. 270.1 and D.270.2 both folding in new finishes and essences: natural or black ash wood with leather, reed or woven seatback and seat, also available in fabric "Poesia del mare", designed by Gio Ponti in 1970.

On the occasion of the London Design Festival, four British textile designers were called by the British magazine Port to interpret a special edition of the chair D.270.2, covering it with fabrics made exclusively for the event. The same concept has been replicated in Milan involving Thomas Caldera, Sara Ferrari, Nina Warglien, Olimpia Zagnoli, four young Italian designers selected by Elle Decor and Giulio Ridolfo. The four fabrics were developed and manufactured by Dedar and Rubelli who have followed all project phases.

The chairs will be exhibited until 15th of March in Molteni & C.’s exhibition center placed in Corso Europa in Milan.
